We have two unique tools that can help you gain insights into your existing culture. Each of these is described below:
The UGRs Stock Take
The UGRs Stock Take is a brilliant tool that enables organisations to get a fix on the prevailing UGRs within the organisation. This involves us setting up a web page specifically for you, with a number of agreed lead-in sentences important to the success of the organisation. These lead-in sentences could include:
- Around here, customers are…
- Around here, communication is…
- Around here, displaying initiative gets you…
- Around here, safety is…
There are two ways we derive the lead-in sentences for a UGRs Stock Take. Our preferred approach is to get the leadership team to agree on the Key Cultural Attributes (KCAs) necessary for the organisation's future success, or alternatively to focus on the current Values of the organisation.
We then help create lead-in sentences linked to those attributes or Values.
So for example, if a KCA or Value was 'Treat people with Respect', then we could craft a lead-in sentence of 'Around here, people are treated...'
Another option is that we can provide you a ‘bank of possible lead-in sentences’ that can be incorporated into the final stock take – although you would not be confined to these.
Once we have agreed on the lead-in sentences, we create a page exclusively for you and direct people to this web page to get them to complete the sentence.
In addition to the lead-in sentences, we can include demographics which might include for example, whether the respondent is in a management or non-management
position, their department etc. If we include demographics, we analyse the results of the stock take to see if there are differences in responses based on these demographics.
You receive a full report of the results. The report identifies general cultural aspects that need to be addressed, as well as cultural ‘hot spots’ that need specific attention.
The UGRs Stock Take can be completed on-line, or can be paper-based, or a combination of both.
'By way of update I can say that since we undertook the UGR Stock Take earlier this year our company management decided unanimously to totally overhaul our values / culture along with direction, how we wish to be perceived, etc, etc . What we are doing encompasses much more than that but importantly the process to date has been all inclusive and has already resulted in genuine excitement across the entire company.
There is no doubt that the UGR survey has been the catalyst for the most comprehensive review of "the way things are done around here" in the past 10 years ( i.e. my tenure ) and possibly since the company's inception.
Anyway exciting times and the total process is something that I now believe will result in a tangible point of difference between us and our competitors given time.'
UGRs 360 Degree Tool
We've recently completed the development of a highly sophisticated tool that enables leaders to acquire 360 degree feedback from employees, suppliers and clients.
The 360 Degree tool is designed to provide leaders with feedback on the extent to which they are 'living' the positive UGRs to which the team has agreed to commit. It is highly flexible and collates results at various levels to provide an overall picture of the leadership teams.

The Key Cultural Attributes Tool
The Key Cultural Attributes tool acquires people's views on the Key Cultural Attributes necessary for the organisation's future success. We've had leadership teams use this tool and we've also had input from all staff in the organisation.
This is a terrific tool that is a starting point to identifying the culture that is necessary for organisation's future.
The Culture Behaviours Survey
The Culture Behaviours Survey is a tool that acquires feedback on specific behaviours that contribute to UGRs and culture in both positive and negative ways. Linked to our most recent, and ground-breaking research, this survey measures the extent to which culture-building and culture-blocking behaviours are being exhibited. We are able to show how your team/organisation compares against global and/or industry benchmarks.
The Culture Behaviours Survey is able to collect demographics (such as level of seniority, geographical location, department etc) and we analyse to report on differences across these demographics. You receive a fully analysed report of your results, the demographic analysis, and how you compare with global averages.
The survey can be completed on-line or can be paper-based, or a combination of both.
